This and That

So the holidays are fast approaching, and I've made a few special order pieces for clients I would like to share with all of you. The following is a set of earrings, necklace, and bracelet for a pianist that I just finished on special order.

Also, here is a picture of Henry on the bed that I modelled Lucy on the other day, It's only fair to show both my sweeties, right?

I was making a treasury yesterday and stumbled on this amazing bowl from an etsy friend of mine oneclaybead. Isn't it gorgeous?

Lucy's New Bed

As promised, here is a pic of my cutie pie Lucy enjoying her new bed from Apartment C . I underestimated how big Lucy is, but she still really loves it and Henry (my westie) also sprawls on it when he gets to it first.

hello mom, why are you taking pics of me?

oh, well, I suppose I AM cute, so maybe I'll pose a bit.
phew, being super cute and pretty is hard work

Actually, my dogs have been pretty spoilt lately because they've been munching on some goodies from Petit Four Legs that were given to me by Jennifer Lewis the pastry chef turned doggie treat maker that was vending next to me at UCU. You can find her amazing treats in various retail locations, including Winners in Canada. Check out her great website too by clicking here.

are these not the most beautiful dog treats you've ever seen?

Sneak Peak for Valentine's

There were a couple of awesome vendors that I completely forgot to mention that I befriended at Urban Craft Uprising. Three that pop into mind as my favorite not only because they make wonderful things, but also because they happen to be lovely people as well.

First of all Holden Lee Tees: This is such a great company because its a mother and son team. The son is eight years old, and the most creative and ebulliant child I've ever met. He's always drawing something awesome and its so wonderful to see his mom encouraging him in such a great way. Basically he draws up some awesome monster character and she will silkscreen it on a tee. I got this one for my neice and it was a big hit:
Second: Apartment C this charming crafter makes the best pet beds EVER. She uses amazing hip fabric and they are soosooosooo soft, I asked her to make me a human size bed, ASAP. I got this one for cutie pie dachshund Lucy, I still have to take a picture of her on it, I promise when I do I'll share it!

this is not the bed I got for Lucy, but it's pretty cool too

Finally: Svedala Bakery. If you know me, you know that I have a sweet tooth. The kind that does not know any kind of control. I will eat sweets until I feel sick. Svedela was the vendor diagonal from me. I was their best customer. I have to tell you I still dream of their coconut brownies. so delicious! Try them out! they take orders online! Definitely worthy of every dime!

fudgy deliciousness

So finally, here is my sneak peak for Valentines. Introducing FRANKEN HEART . He just wants to be loved. I'm gonna make baby franken hearts, and maybe some earrings too.

Next up on the roster: I'm looking into some ancient jewelry. I'd like to explore some of what people used to decorate their bodies with! anyone have any suggestions?

PHEW!

BOY, that was a doosy of a weekend, and it is not quite over yet! I vended at Seattle's Urban Craft Uprising this year and am so happy to have been a part of it! It is one of the best craft shows I have ever participated in, both in terms of the organisation and the clientele. The people who come to UCU are wonderful, they appreciate the works it takes for artisans to make their wares and they support and smile and chat. I LOVE IT! Check out this great blog that I was featured in Craftivism , just an example of how dedicated people are to the art of craft here, they keep extensive and great blogs about it!

I am still in Seattle, currently hanging out in the airport waiting for my flight, and I am fully satisfied and happy with my experience here this year. It's important to note this since on my way over here, I was sitting in my cramped seat on the airplane and wondering if it was all worth it! I'm travelling across the continent to attend this show! After the weekend of chatting with great co-vendors (Jennifer Lewis from Petit Four Legs ) to sharing my passion with customers. I must say, I'm a happy camper.

So I'm making this brochure.... and...

I've had some help from these amazing coaches down at the Youth Employment Services. They basically help young anglophones out with career, business and entrepreneurial advice. Its actually one of the most wonderful rescources, I'm so happy to have discovered it.

Anyhow, yesterday I was in a meeting with Monica Majewski who is the Artist coach and she had given me homework from our first meeting. The homework was to make a brochure to take along with me to my christmas fair in Seattle Urban Craft Uprising. The images, I was pretty sure, I could handle myself. I have an eye for the graphic. It was the text to describe my company that I needed an intense amount of help in. As you can probably tell, writing is not my forté. Or at least, I don't have enough patience to actually make it my forté. She helped me out with my text and this is what we came up with, let me know what you think!
